Merry Christmas Targeteers!!!!

Merry Christmas Targeteers!

Christmas Eve has arrived. Many of us are hurrying around to put finishing touches on holiday meals, packages, buying last minute gifts, cleaning, setting a table, making phone calls and who knows what else. Our Christmas was earlier in the week so we are sitting around being sloths and enjoying some TV, movies, cookies and warm beverages. I am thinking of all of you and saying prayers and sending holiday wishes to each of you for a joyous celebration for the birth of Jesus.

Most of us in the United States are experiencing a weather event of one sort or another. I just want to caution you all to be very prepared and careful about how you manage those events. Stay warm! If your power goes out, make sure you don’t do anything hazardous indoors and harm yourselves or your family.

Now for some fun….

If you have a tradition, recipe, game, funny story, holiday greeting or anything you would like to post in comments, please do! I’ll start the ball rolling with one of the things we do.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Every year we watch Christmas movies. Our all time fave is Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase.  I don’t think there is a scene in that movie that doesn’t have me giggling! As it turns out, every one of our kids love it too and so we have a great time watching it. We have dubbed 2010 as the year when ALL of our children and grandchildren should be at our house for Christmas. It will be the first time in our marriage that we’ll have a yours, mine and ours sort of holiday IN OUR HOME.  I have joked that the theme of Christmas 2010 will be Christmas Vacation!

This week my daughter said she was wearing a white sweater with a black dickey because Cousin Eddie cracks her up since you can see the dickey through the sweater.

Cousin Eddie

I told her I had to find a squirrel for the Christmas tree and make green jello with cat food. So it ends up that we got the squirrel this year. Yes, we have a squirrel in our tree. :) Ends up that the package of doggy toys we got Buddy and Baliegh had one so I confiscated it!!!

Christmas Vacation - The Squirrel

Now I am on a quest for a disc sled that has a burnt out bottom….

I think I may have a problem finding moose mugs to serve egg nog though!

And, one of the funniest scenes in the entire movie. I’m rating it PG for language and F for Funny!

Enough about what trips my funny bone during the holidays. I’m off to have some coffee and a couple of cookies we baked. Have at it! Share what is going on at your house!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!

Your site looks great and the Christmas scene is a beauty.

We are resting after a late night up wrapping gifts, which is always fun but tiring. We have Christmas at home and then on Sunday we will be getting together with family for a celebration. That way everyone gets to spend a day with their kids at home, hanging out in PJ’s or whatever. Just being comfy and having no where to go in great, right?

Have a wonderful Christmas. Thanks for all of the deals.

I did get a really cute wooden advent calendar (orig. $39; sale $13.78) at Target yesterday and some Paula Deen pans (orig. $29; sale $20) and Calphalon boxed cooking set with cookie sheets, pans, spatula (orig. $39.99; sale $19) and a Dorm Life 5×8 area rug (orgi. $29.99; sale $10). All were on clearance!

The funnest thing we did yesterday was play Wii Fit and I let our son do an advent calendar door opening every 25 minutes – all coins and dollar bills – he loved that and wants to bring that Christmas Eve tradition back each year.

We have winds of about 60 mph. Already ripped off a portion of the roof on the kid’s fort and the awning off the side of the house. Santa has a wild ride in store for tonight. Be safe everyone!

Merry Christmas Ginger! I want to thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to helping us save money. Your blog has been inspiring and a joy to read. Have a fabulous, relaxing holiday and I hope the weather isn’t too awful for you. I’m in sunny CA and it’s 62 outside – down right warm. My extended family will be meeting in San Francisco for dinner and enjoying each others company.
